~Chocolate Chiffon Cake~


Chocolate Chiffon Cake

2 1/4 cups flour
1 3/4 cups white sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup crisco oil
7 egg yolks
3/4 cup cold water
2 tsp vanilla
Beat above until smooth
*** Beat the 7 egg whites in a seperate bowl add 1/2 tsp cream of tarter & beat until peaks hold firm
Fold in beaten egg whites into the egg yolk bowl in small amounts. Add 3 squares of grated unsweetened chocolate (use smallest grate setting) (Fold in-Do not beat)
Bake @ 325 deg in a tube pan (don't grease) for one hour, when baked turn upside down over a bottle ~ leave hanging till cool.

Icing

4 Tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
Cook the above in a pot on stove top until thick, then cool
1/2 cup hard margarine
1/2 cup crisco
(beat both for 4 mins)
add
1 cup of icing sugar
beat until well blended
add flour mixture and beat again
add
2 tsp vanilla & food coloring
Beat until fluffy & Ice your cake
(this is not an overly sweet icing & works very well with the Chiffon Cake)
