~Banana bread with chocolate chips and almonds~

1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
3 eggs, separated
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 c. nuts, chopped *OR* 1/4 cup nuts & 1/2 cup choc chips
1 c. bananas, mashed (about 3)
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together with electric mixer, Crisco, sugar, egg yolks, sour cream, chopped nuts, chocolate chips and bananas. Sift together salt, flour, baking soda and baking powder. Add to banana mixture with the vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold in to banana mixture. Pour into 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes, or until tester comes out clean.

This was soooo yummy and only lasted a day in our house (and I remembered the sugar...lol *wink*wink*).

This sounds scrumptious!! I may have to try and find some crisco over here so I can make this...and I bet even Julia will eat it!! :-)

Hope you're getting a good night's sleep!!

You're welcome!

The banana break looks really good. I wonder if it would work the same with butter. Although I do have crisco, too.

I am sure butter will work just fine as that what I usually use when I make it.

This looks like a great recipe. I'm going to have to try it. Bananas, choc chips and nuts...going to copy it to my favorites.
